Lenore Sherman Silberstein passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023 at age 94. Lenore was a smart, strong, and passionate woman who was a loving wife to her dear husband Bob and their three children Bill, Barry, and Caren. Lenore, who was known to all as Lenny, was born in Brooklyn on October 12 1928, to her parents William Sherman and Minerva Isenberg Boyers. She attended James Madison High School, where she was very proud to be named Best Dressed in her senior year, and earned her college degree in history at NYU. She spent her summers at summer camp where she met Bob in 1940. Eventually Lenny and Bob married and settled in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Lenny was active in Hadassah and served as president of the local chapter. Lenny was smart – she famously completed the New York Times crossword puzzle every day, in record time. She was also an avid reader, known to read as much as an entire book per day. Lenny was a great mother and wife who fiercely supported her family and many life long friends. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by husband Bob, sons Bill and Barry and his wife Janice, daughter Caren and her husband Tom, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Ellis Sisskind.
Her family greatly appreciates the care she and Bob received from the staff at the Fairport Baptist Home. Donations in her memory may be made to Hadassah.org or Fairport Baptist Homes.org .
A Memorial Service for Lenny will be held at the Fairport Baptist Home, 4646 Nine Mile Point Road, Fairport NY on Monday, May 22 at 2 PM. For those unable to attend in person, arrangements will be made for a virtual meeting. A link to the virtual meeting will be made available prior to the service via email.
