Fairport: Lynn, age 69, devoted her life to helping other people. She died unexpectedly in her sleep on August 18, 2015.
Born in Rochester, NY, October 9, 1945, the second daughter of Ernest Wilbur Scott and Marian Cover Scott (both deceased), she lived in Churchville and attended Churchville-Chili schools before going to Michigan State University as a Psychology Major. After graduation in 1967 she began work as a Recreation Therapist in Children’s and Youth Services at Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC). She earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 1972 and returned to work at RPC. She left in 1991 to earn a Master of Social Work Degree from Syracuse University. She finished her work career at Livingston County Mental Health Clinic, retiring in 2000.
A longtime resident of Fairport, NY, Lynn was an ace pitcher in Perinton Recreation women’s softball league. She loved gardening, sports, nature, birds, animals, and traveling with her family to wild woods, oceans and lakes. After retirement, Lynn began volunteer work as a Missionary to people in the inner city at People’s Ministry in Christ.
Lynn loved traveling with her sister, Donna Scott, Lansing, NY, and visiting with her younger brother, John (Jay) Scott and his wife Norma, Bradenton, FL; she took great pride in her nephews and their wives, Jeremy Scott and Mona Mady, Brooklyn, NY, and Justin and Kristen Scott, St. Augustine, FL, and their son, Peyton, all of whom survive her.
A Memorial Service followed by an informal reception will be held Friday, August 21 at 2 PM at Durand Eastman Park, Magnolia shelter on Log Cabin Rd. off Lake Shore Drive. Burial at Creekside Cemetery, Churchville, NY.
