Greece, NY – On January 3, 2021, age 101. Predeceased by her husband of 69 years John, son David, and son-in-law William Hay. She is survived by her 2 sons, Douglas (Cathy) and Alan (Linda), daughter Sandra Hay, daughter-in-law Sharon, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Springville, NY in 1919 at the end of the last pandemic, she was a child of the Roaring ‘20s and grew up during the Great Depression. A graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College, she taught at a one room school in Glenwood, NY. At the end of WWII, she married John Bennett. After living in several western NY towns, they settled in Greece on North Ave in 1956. She was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church.
Being with family was always her greatest joy. Showing off the photos from her 100 th birthday celebration, which brought together family from all over the country, always put a smile on her face.
A private interment for local family was held on January 12 th at Whitehaven Cemetery in Pittsford. A memorial service will be scheduled after travel restrictions are removed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
