Greece NY:  Richard J. Romig, DMD, age 76, surrounded by his loved ones, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2016 after a heroic 8 year battle with cancer. Dr. Romig was born on September 25, 1940 in Rochester, NY to Louis and Marjorie Pilaroscia. Dr. Romig is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Marion; children Craig (Kim), Diane Romig O’Connor (Tom), Colby Frye (Nikki); grandchildren Kady and Allie Romig, Brennan and Aidan O’Connor, and Makayla Frye; six siblings Gary (Kathy), Barry (Linda), Jeff (Rita), Eric, Mark (Grace) and Wendy Romig Gell (John); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; lifelong friends Dr. Bill Nesbit (Peggy), Dr. Fred Suter (Barb), Denny DeLeo (Marion), Paul Soscia (Susan), Chip Weld (Annette).
Predeceased by his father Louis J. Pilaroscia, mother Marjorie L. Best Pilaroscia Romig, step-father Robert G. Romig, his brother Robert (Bobby) Pilaroscia.
He graduated from John Marshall High School, The University of Rochester and Tufts University, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree. Dr. Romig achieved the highest award for diagnosing x-rays. He practiced dentistry at 3000 Mt. Read in the Town of Greece for 23 years and then started a successful consulting business called Practice Management Concepts.
Dr. Romig earned an Eagle Scout award and was a counselor at Camp Massawepie. He was a world traveler visiting over 42 countries and 48 states. He was baptized by the Jordan River at the spot where Jesus was baptized. He circumnavigated the world and was awarded Most Traveled Passenger three times by Princess Cruises. He was an avid photographer and a remarkable skeet shooter. His integrity and sense of humor made him a favorite of people of all ages.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 9:30 am at St. Lawrence Church 1000 North Greece Road, Rochester, NY 14626 reception immediately following at The Deacon Hall next to the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph 150 French Road Rochester, NY 14618.
