Richard Samuel Ives
March 13, 1943 – March 24, 2022
Richard Samuel Ives of Greece, New York, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 79. He was employed 31 years with the Greece Central School District. Rich is survived by his beloved wife Molly; his sons Andrew Michael Ives (Susan) of Florida and Jeremy Samuel Ives (Ann) of South Carolina; grandchildren Max, Abigail, Valerie and Ethan; brothers Ralph (Cheryl), James (Lois) and Timothy (Maureen) Ives; sisters Julie Moberg, Susan Gorsch (Rudy) and Betty Adams (Steve); stepsiblings Perry and David Jones, Patsy Lyon (Steve); several nieces and nephews.
After graduation from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Rich and Molly moved to Greece, NY, where his career began in 1968 at Olympia High School as a business teacher. He earned his master’s degree and advanced administration degree at SUNY Brockport, New York. Rich continued his career and love of people as a Vice Principal at both Olympia and Athena High Schools and at Athena Middle School. Always advocating for the best in education, he retired in 1999 as interim principal, Greece Athena High School. All who gather there on Tuesday, June 28th between 4 pm and 7 pm will come to share stories and memories of our times with Rich. Please join us.
Richard was Elder and Deacon at Lakeview Community Church, 30 Long Pond Road, where his memorial service will be held the following morning, Wednesday, June 29th at 10am. Pastor Steven Rodriguez will officiate this service and Lynnann Rivas will supply the music for Rich’s celebration.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to the Memorial Fund at Lakeview Community Church.
