Sheilah E. Quigley (Hurley), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with family at her side after a short illness on December 22, 2020 at age 92. She is survived by children Thomas Quigley, Joseph Quigley (Deborah), Siobhan Sullivan, and Brian Quigley, grandchildren Tara Dublo (Sal), Erin Sheehan (Patrick), Morgan Sullivan (James Kautz), Sean Sullivan, four great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. Sheilah was a graduate of Jefferson High School and in later years worked as a receptionist for Brighton Dental Group and Dental Associates of Rochester. She loved her family, the winter, the holidays, lilacs, shopping, and was still very active until her passing. Whether you knew her as Sheilah, Mom, Grandma, or Aunt She-She, she cared about everyone in her life, always bringing a smile and great sense of humor to everyone and striving to make their lives better, easier, happier, or funnier. Born on January 14, 1928, a strong and resilient woman who lived through the Great Depression and World War II, she was sustained through many challenges and difficulties during her life as well as her final illness by her Catholic faith which included devotions to the Holy Rosary, The Sacred Heart of Jesus, and St. Padre Pio. A generous soul, she always gave more to others than she asked in return. Her words to her family on her last Thanksgiving Day were “Take care of one another!”
Sheilah’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brighton with interment following at Whitehaven Memorial Park. Due to COVID-related restrictions on size of religious services, burial mass will be limited to immediate family. A public memorial service and celebration of Sheilah’s life will be planned for 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Padre Pio Chapel, 141 Frank Dimino Way (Marconi Blvd), Rochester, NY 14624.
