Holley, NY: Susan Marie Butenhof, age 55, passed away on November 24, 2020 after a valiant battle with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Susan is survived by her parents, Leon & Ginger Smith, her husband Alan, her two boys, Eric, 24 and Michael, 21 and her sister, Kim Brothers.
Susan was born April 14, 1965 in Rochester, NY. She spent her childhood in New Rochelle, NY before going to college at SUNY Oneonta where she graduated in 1987. She and Alan met at a square-dancing club and they married in 1992. They have lived in Holley, NY for the past 20 years where she worked as a mortgage underwriter.
Susan will be remembered for her practical and positive outlook of life, sharp wit, and intellect. She enjoyed the adventure of travel and the comfort of a good book on a rainy day. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, and sister and will be sorely missed.
Due to the pandemic, there will be no service at this time. Her family is planning a celebration of her life some time in 2021 when we can all come together to remember her. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Metaplastic Breast Cancer Global Alliance ( mpbcalliance.org ), the Wilmont Cancer institute in Rochester ( urmc.rochester.edu/cancer-institute ) or another charity close to your own heart.
