Rochester NY: March 20, 2016. She is survived by her sister Mary (Keith) Chapel and her brother Jim (Helen) Post, both of Perry, NY, her five children Tom (Nance), Linda (Blane), Dave (Joy), Joe (Laurie), Mike (Cathy) and 15 grandchildren.
Val was a devoted wife who lost her beloved husband Thomas on 9/16/15 after 67 years of marriage. As the wife of a busy doctor she was the family matriarch who supported her husband and raised 5 children. To her children she was a strong parent but she was also their friend and confidant. She was always willing to listen and stayed an integral part of all of their lives throughout adulthood. She was Grandma Honey to her 15 grandchildren and treated all of them as special. She was a talented artist and cook. She enjoyed her family, traveling, times at Conesus Lake and times with her grandchildren.
In her final years she approached life with strength and determination, not letting her physical discomfort impact the time with her family. Our thanks to the staff at the Highlands of Pittsford for the care they provided to both mom and dad. A very special thanks to Flora, Michelle, Merian and Carla for the loving way they took care of our mom in the last year.
‘Honey’, as she was known to her family, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed.
A Memorial Celebration will be held this summer, date and time to be announced.
