Vincent H. Steeley of Pittsford passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the age of 91.
Vince was born in Kingston, New York on June 4, 1931. The oldest of four children, he was brother to Robert Steeley, Jon Steeley and Maureen Steeley. Vince enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Korean War on the front lines. Once back from Korea, Vince married Joan Van Kleeck in 1953 and they were married for 69 years until Joan’s death earlier this year in March 2022.
Vince used his G.I. Bill benefits to attend Niagara University to earn his degree in Accounting, and had a career in banking until his retirement, most recently with Chase Manhattan Bank in Rochester.
When he wasn’t working, Vince enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, woodworking, was an avid golfer as a member of Victor Hills Golf Course, served as a lector at St. Louis parish, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Vince was a treasured brother-in-law to Joan’s many sisters and brothers, and a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his children Nancy Steeley of Burlington, VT, Timothy (Carol) Steeley of Crofton, MD, Debra (Mike) Monaco of Rochester, NY and Kevin (Patty) Steeley of Pittsford, NY, his sister Maureen Steeley of Rhinebeck, NY, sister- in-law Mary Ann Donohue of New York, NY, sister-in laws Barbara Clark of Port Ewen, NY, Janet Regan of Kingston, NY, and grandchildren Anna, Sarah, Kevin and Ryan.
A Mass to celebrate Vince’s life will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Pittsford, NY on September 15, 2022 at 9:30 AM. All are welcome to attend.
