It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, husband, and grandfather. Born on December 26, 1939, Wally passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2024, with his wife of 62 years by his side.
Walt is survived by the love of his life, his wife Helen, as well as his children: Michele (Russell) Johnson, Evelyn (Patrick) Lloyd, Gretchen, and Jacob. He is also remembered by his brother William, sister Susan, brother-in-law John (Pat) Stauber, and his grandchildren: Nathaniel (Anj), Wyatt, Cody, Caitlyn, Macyn, Brynn, and Logan. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Maria, and his brother Arthur.
Walt grew up in Irondequoit, NY, where he developed a passion for building cars and airplanes. He proudly served as an Army veteran and later became a Local 13 pipefitter and plumber. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a mechanical contractor and eventually acquire the Brockport Airport (Ledgedale Airpark), where he pursued his love of aviation into retirement.
Walt’s life was enriched by his love for camping, fishing, aviation, boats, cars, and hockey. He cherished time spent with his friends and grandchildren, always eager to embark on new adventures. A brilliant problem solver and hard worker, Walt was a dedicated father and grandfather, always ready to support and guide his family.
Walt was devoted to his friends, often organizing trips and activities that brought joy and excitement to their lives. He valued every moment shared with them, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and deep friendships.
Walt’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for life, and his generous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday June 12, 2024, at the Ledgedale Airpark 21 Eisenhauer Drive Brockport, NY 14420 from 3pm- 7pm in the big hangar on the South side of Eisenhauer Drive.
