Ward E. Waid Jr. (“Pop,” “Pappy,” “Gramps”), 93, of Churchville, New York, passed November 18, 2020. Survived by his children Scott (Elaine) Waid and Pamela (Jan) Carmichael; grandchildren Jennifer (Raymond Dry) Palumbo, Michael Palumbo, and Colin Carr; great grandchildren Adrionna Palumbo and Anthony Guerra-Palumbo; loving companion of 31 years Mabel Cimino and her children Amy (Joseph Brophy) Bianchi, Mary Ellen (Dale) Czudak, and Donna (Richard Tolleson) Lambe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Ward Sr. and Vera (Briggs) Waid; brother Ernest Fay Waid; sisters and brothers-in-law Helen (Dellmer) Betts, Ruth (James) Hanes, Inez Mae (Earl) Mattocks, Jane (Charles) Emery, Thelma (Robert) Ward, and Gladness (Paul) Williams.
Originally from Meadville, Pennsylvania, Ward was a veteran of WWII and a longtime employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and Johnny Antonelli Tire Company. He also was instrumental in founding Pro Tire Repair, Inc. He was an ardent supporter of the National World War II Museum. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 2415 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624.
