Brighton, NY: Antoinette M. (Maranzano) Foster, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018 shortly before Christmas to reunite with her husband, Russell Foster, and four sisters, Virginia, Rose, Josephine and Phyllis. Antoinette, an East Rochester native and resident at The Brightonian, lived a majority of her life with her husband, Russell, at a house on Five Mile Line Road in Webster, N.Y. before moving to Fairport Apartments. She met her husband of 45 years, who was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, while working as a receptionist at the Draft Board at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Antoinette said Russell charmed her when he would drop off mail at her work desk. Antoinette and Russell eventually relocated to East Rochester, where they were married and owned two delis – one in Rochester and another in Webster. Russell and Antoinette had one son, Thomas S. Foster, who married Mara (Bullo), his wife of 43 years.
Known for her delicious cookies, and potato and macaroni salads, Antoinette was an expert in the kitchen. Antoinette’s great cooking skills were only matched by her witty sense of humor, her infectious and vivacious personality and her passion for life. She cherished her trips to Monterey, Calif., Cape Cod, Mass. and Philadelphia, Pa. later in life to attend her 3 grandsons’ weddings. Antoinette was also able to meet her 2 great-grandchildren, Malorie and Nolan Foster. Antoinette loved to play Pokeno with her cherished all-Queens card with her family (sometimes until 3 in the morning). She will be dearly missed by her close family, relatives and friends and will forever live in our hearts.
Antoinette, the second oldest of five daughters, is preceded in death by her husband, Russell, her parents, Frank and Philipa Maranzano (Vitelo), and sisters, Virginia Maranzano, Rose Garofolo (Anthony), Josephine Martino (Nick) and Phyllis Hart (John). She is survived by son, Thomas S. Foster (Mara) of Webster, N.Y., three grandsons, Thomas M. (Jenn) of Seattle, Wash., David (Alexandra) of Philadelphia, Pa. and Sean (Caitlin) of Charlotte, N.C., two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Malorie Foster of Charlotte, N.C., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private funeral services for Antoinette will be held at a later date
Auntie Antoinette was so wonderfully sassy. She was a great cook and loved by all. I will miss her very much. Knowing that all the Maranzano sisters are together brings softness to my heart. Knowing that they’re also reunited with their parents makes me smile. Tom and Mara god bless you and hugs to all your family
