Barbara Link Ribas

Rochester NY:  91, passed away Saturday November 5th, 2016 at Monroe Community Hospital. Barbara was born on January 21, 1925, the only child of Clarence J. and Blanche Castleman Link. A loving daughter, she was close to her parents throughout their lives. She attended Hiram College and was graduated from Syracuse University. Barbara traveled and held several jobs before she married Vincent Ribas on April 1st, 1958 and had three children with him. They lived in Penfield, NY in the 1960s, then moved to Weston, CT for a decade before moving to Fairport, NY. Barbara lived in Pittsford for a quarter century before moving to the Gardens in Macedon for the last several years.

Barbara loved watching wildlife and contributed generously to many wildlife organizations. She also loved knitting and was creating items for others right up until the end. Her other interests included the NY Mets and romance novels, but her greatest passion was her family.  She was a loving mother and an adoring grandmother, full of kindness and generosity.

She is survived by her children- Vincent and his wife Kimberly Donovan of Franklin, NH, William and wife Laura of Pittsford, NY, and Nancy and husband Robert Brown of Marion, NY, as well as by grandchildren Kira Ribas of Cleveland OH, Patrick and Simon Ribas of Pittsford NY, Christine Howlett of Alexandria, VA, and Colby and Emily Brown of Marion, NY.

A service will be held at the Baptist Temple at 1101 Clover Street in Brighton at 9 am on Saturday, November 12th. The burial will be private.

    We were saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow. Have faith that you will see her again.
