Bessie Jane Hervey

mom

Rochester:  January 14, 2014 at age 78.  Bessie is predeceased by her husband, Rev. William Hoyt Hervey & son, Terrance James Hervey.  She is survived by her children, Thomas Hervey, Timothy (Cynthia) Hervey, Barbara Hervey, Patty Macking & Kimberly (Gabriel) Rivera; grandchildren, Hannibal, Hannah, Ryan (Brittany), William, Bianca, Jessica, Jennifer, Malerie, Samantha & Emmanuel; great-gransons, Noah & Marshall; siblings, Art (Sherlon) Morden, Ruth Morden & Katherine Fryou; many dear friends.

Bessie enjoyed serving others, loved to garden and spend time with her family.

Our sweet mom passed away … And we’re confident she went eagerly… to be with the lord and to be with her husband she’d been separated from for oh so many years…
She suffered from an aggressive progression of Dementia for the past few years. It is a horrible disease. She was a very sweet soul that honestly lived to serve and please others. She continually gave of herself, her time, and all she had, selflessly.  With as much as she gave & loved, there is no doubt that she crossed the finish line hearing.. “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 25th 2 P.M. at Koinonia Fellowship, 500 Main Street, E. Rochester. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Rochester Cremation, 4044 W. Henrietta Road, Rochester NY 14623, 359-2300, RochesterCremation.com.

Your mother (my aunt) was a star in my childhood. I remember visiting when your family lived in California. Always loving with a smile and a great laugh. It seemed as if she was available to everyone and to me, asking about my hobbies and interests. Years later when she returned for a Caifornia visit, she still had those wonderful attributes. Your loss is great. But the memories of her will outlast the sorrow. And they are yours forever!

Our thoughts are with you all,
    Your cousin, Robin

I was saddened to see Aunt Bess died. I always respected and loved her. She was a class act. What I remember the most is she loved all her children and she was so up beat. She worked really hard throughout her life raising her kids without much help. I do know when I went back to Tim’s wedding and got to meet and see all my cousins again I realized what a great family I belong too. Aunt Bessie played a huge part.
Know that she impacted many people and I for one thought the world of her and her family. She will be missed. All our love, take care. Rhonda

Bess was such an important part of my youth. I spent a lot of time in her home and am a better person for it. I will never forget her kindness or her willingness to open her home or set an extra place for so many of us “kids” back then. She loved us all unconditionally, right along with all of her own. As stressful as it was raising her family on her own, for so many years, she rarely let it show and she never let it stop her support of all of us. Her influence was one that kept me in the church and off the streets. I am very grateful for her and all of the great memories I have of time spent with your family! God bless you all and thanks, Bess! Love Pam

We were so sorry to hear about Aunt Bessie, she was such a sweet, thoughtful lady. I thought it was so comforting that God promises that “he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be any more”(Rev 21;4)…can’t wait for that! Wish that we could’ve all made it up for the funeral on Saturday, but please know that all of you are in our prayers right now.
    Love,
    Becky & Felipe
