Pittsford, NY: Betty L. Paddock, 91, peacefully passed into the Presence of the Lord on May 4th 2017. Born Betty Lou Lake on March 27, 1926 in New Haven, CT she is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence R. and Viola (Seibold) Lake, and her late husband, William A. Paddock.

Betty grew-up in Branford CT, attended Principia College and was a proud alumnus of U Conn. She was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader, and a patron of the arts who regularly attended theater productions and symphonic concerts here in Rochester and in cities throughout the world. She was a patriot who daily watched the news holding fast to her conservative views. Betty loved beaches and boating, sunshine and cruising. Traveling the world with her husband, Bill, she memorialized each journey they took in albums filled with pictures, each labeled and dated. An avid fan of Big Band music, with the ability to move with agility around the dance floor, Betty religiously watched ‘The Lawrence Welk Show’ every Saturday evening. For the past 13 years she lived life to the full at The Highlands at Pittsford. Betty’s tremendous sense of humor and wit, coupled with an ability to help others laugh along with her (even as her own health was failing) will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty’s survivors include her two brothers Charles D. (Martha) Lake of Virginia Beach, VA, and Robert K. Lake of Middletown, NY; three daughters Carol (Robert) Lazenby of Bloomfield, NY, Nancy D. King of St Petersburg, FL, and Robin (Roy) Taylor of Panama City, FL; a son Scott C. Baldwin of St Petersburg, FL; six grandsons Brendon (Angela) King, Aaron B. Lazenby, Jason (Lisa) King, Noel R. Lazenby, Jonathan (Jennifier) Cherry, and Mikael Cherry; three granddaughters Carrie Parker, Megan Cherry, and Shanna (Leighton) Blankenburg; twelve great-grandchildren Carter and Van King, Marissa and Griffin King, Deven and Shawn Cherry, Makayla and Jaden Cherry, Noah Lazenby, Gracie Parker, Kinlie and Callie McCall; several  nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Memorial Service in honor of Betty’s life will be held on Monday, May 15th  at 2:00 pm  in the Community Room at The Highlands at Pittsford, 100 Hahnemann Trail, Pittsford, NY, 14534. A light reception will follow, all are welcome to attend. A private burial will be held at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford, NY.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to VNS Hospice and Advent House for their compassionate, loving support and excellent care of Betty in her final few months. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in Betty’s memory to Advent House, 1010 Moseley Rd, Fairport, NY 14450 or to Hospice, 2180 Empire Boulevard, Webster, NY 14580.

I was only in Betty’s company several times; however, she was such a delight to be with. Having stayed in my home, she was a pleasure to talk and laugh with. Nancy, Carol, and Scott, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
