Rice, Carolyn Day
1933-2020
Carolyn Day Rice, 86, of St. John’s Meadows, a longtime resident of Penfield, NY, passed away on May 31, 2020. She was born on July 20, 1933 to Lawrence William and Eleanor (Hoyt) Day in Philadelphia, PA. She grew up in Fairfield, CT, and graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, MA with a bachelor’s degree in primary education. Carolyn raised 5 children and was a wonderful mother.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Taylor; children William, David (Sally) and Thomas (Betsy) Rice, Julie (Jeff) Furminger, and son-in-law Michael Schlosser; grandchildren Brittany (Dan) Chiavetta, Jordan, Dan, Andrew, and Mitchell Rice, Lexi, Delaney and Nate Furminger, and Sydney Schlosser; and great-granddaughter Nora Joy Chiavetta; and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Schlosser. She was a friend of Bill W., an enthusiastic member of Asbury First UMC Church, and a volunteer at the Storehouse and Open Door Mission.
