Cindy and Denny - Copy

Walworth NY:  August 28, 2015.  We grieve the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, special aunt, daughter-in-law, and friend of so many.  Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Charles A. and Fanny M. Swift; brother, William A. Swift; sister-in-law, Margaret (Maggie) B. Swift and father-in-law, Jack E. Roach.  She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dennis K. Roach; daughter Dianna (David) McDowell, Virginia Beach, VA;  son John (Chrissy) Roach, Macedon, NY; grandsons Benjamin and Thomas McDowell and Jack and Danny Roach; sisters Diane (Larry) Maynard, Brockport, NY and Patricia Caldwell, Myrtle Beach, SC; mother-in-law Jeanetta Roach, Canal Fulton, OH; sisters-in-law Pastor Jacqueline (James) McMillen, Wadsworth, OH and Deborah (Kenneth) Blank, Broadview Heights, OH; and numerous nieces,  nephews and their families.

Originally from Lily Dale, NY, Cindy graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central High School and attended Kent State University, where she met her husband.  A dedicated Navy wife, she accompanied her husband through 14 moves, spanning 29 years of Naval service and numerous separations, while raising her children to become wonderful, productive adults, hosting officers and dignitaries, and always maintaining a warm and welcoming home.  Cindy was a highly successful real estate agent in Ohio and Virginia, retired as a Teaching Assistant in the Hilton Central School District and devoted many volunteer hours to Naval Officer Spouses’  Clubs, Junior Great Books, Literary Volunteers of Rochester, the Brockport Garden Club and Harris Hill Elementary School.  Cindy lived her life per The Golden Rule, judging no one but extending compassion, warmth and a caring concern for all.  Her life joys were her children, her grandsons, her friends and her gardens.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 1 pm, Sunday, September 13,  at Westminster Chapel and Hall, 3886 Rush-Mendon Rd., Mendon, NY,  followed by a gathering at the Hall until 4 pm.  Private interment will be held at Union Cemetery, Canal Fulton, OH.

Her family extends a special thank you to her dedicated team at Wilmot Cancer Center and to Lifetime Care, particularly, Lori Smith.  In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to contribute to the Hamlin Public Library, 1680 Lake Rd., Hamlin, NY or to Lifetime Care in Cindy’s name.
