Dan Hoover

Dan Hoover - Rochester Cremation

Dan Hoover passed away at home after a long illness on Sunday, January 15, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born the fifth of six children in Sodus Point, NY in 1952, Dan learned the value of hard work at a young age. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Clarkson University, and lived for a few years in Boston, where he became a lifelong fan of the Red Sox. Dan returned to Rochester to begin a 32-year career at Kodak, specializing in supply chain management. In his spare time, he enjoyed flipping houses with stepson Kenny and cycling and traveling with the love of his life, Brenda.

Dan’s kindness, dignity and optimism through the progression of his dementia inspired us all.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Viola Hoover. Not only was Dan a loving and devoted father to his daughters Chelsea Valdes (Consuelo) and Michelle Hoover and granddaughter Dani Valdes; he had a close, loving bond with his stepchildren Cassie White, Marcia Kasper (David), Ken White (Tina), and Brad White (Erik), as well as their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Sharon Gonzalez, Marsha Daciw (Mike), Ralph “Buddy” Hoover (Elaine), Beverly Butts (Denny), and John Jackson (Caroline), and many nieces and nephews. His family extends their gratitude to his loving caregivers Tina White, Connie Marr Slater and Jeanette Eckert, as well as Rochester Regional Hospice.

In lieu of a formal service, his family will be celebrating his life “Dan’s way”, with a reception at the Argyle Grill at Eagle Vale Golf Club, located at 4344 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd, Fairport, NY 14450 on February 4, 2023, from noon to 4pm. Please join us for food and drink in remembrance of a wonderful man.

Mom, Family and Friends. My Husband David and our Three Sons, Blake, David Jr. and Ryan are so saddened by the loss of life, love and laughter than Dan brought into the life of everyone who was blessed enough to know him. Dan was a class act guy to work with at Kodak; always kind, caring and considerate of others. His contributions in supply chain management and logistics were significant in Kodak’s glory days. His passing brings sadness to me and fellow Kodakers from years ago.

Dear Brenda, we were shocked to read dear Dan’s obituary yesterday in the D&C newspaper. I have wonderful, fond memories of our days together at TJ’s. Dan cared deeply and was always showing acts of kindness to others. We have lovely memories of dinners and wine & cheese gatherings. I deeply regret that we never reconnected. May all of your magical adventures and moments together with Dan bring you comfort. Love, Ray

    Dear Brenda and loved family,
Thoughts and prayers are sent your way in remembrance of Dan. We know he is in the loving arms of God and enjoying a peace he has not felt in the passing years. An old cliche but Dan was just a good guy. A dear brother from our fraternity days at Clarkson.
    Bless you Jeff Schmalz
