Rochester, NY: David Lee Malone, 82, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born in Wilkinsburg Pennsylvania. Predeceased by his parents Florence and Oliver and brother Robert. David is survived by his wife Shirley, his children Robin, Rebecca Mormino (John C.), Virginia (Samuel Bonacci) and grandchildren Téa and Brody and John P., great grandchild Spencer, his brother Kenneth Malone, sister-in-law Ann Malone, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
David grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to Rochester in 1957 to attend RIT. In a 2 year break in his education he met and in 1960 married Shirley. He and Shirley moved to Rochester in 1961 so he could finish his degree in Photographic Science at RIT. After graduating in 1963 he worked for Xerox for 18 years and then found his true calling being an entrepreneur. An avid photographer, he opened the Malone Gallery which showcased works of premier photographers in the country for 5 years. He then transitioned to opening Quincy Tax Service with his wife Shirley in 1988.
In 2002 David experienced the first of what turned out to be many health issues. Through the years he always bounced back from major surgeries and health conditions but eventually they began to wear his body down. We weren’t expecting such a sudden end, but on Sunday evening January 24, at home with Shirley at his side, he quietly left us.
We will come together virtually on Saturday, February 20th at 2:00 pm to celebrate his life.

Shirley and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. My hope is that the wonderful memories you had with David bring comfort.
Sincerely,
Beverly
To Shirley and family. I was lucky enough to know and work with David for many years at Quincy Tax Service. I got to enjoy his beautiful black and white photographs that lined the walls, his wonderful sense of humor, and his willingness to share his knowledge. I will miss him dearly. May God’s grace and peace surround you now and in the future.

Surely, I am so sorry to hear this news. I have thought of you and David often in recent years. I have such good Memories of Working with David And still have several of the photos we made together.
Shirley: So sorry to hear of your loss. David was a great and kind person and I always enjoyed seeing him during my visits. I always ended up staring at the photos on the wall rather than paying attention to the business at hand. I will be thinking of you and your family.

An inspiration to me since he and Shirley took my editing class. For David, only the high-speed life would do! So glad to have known him. and his remarkable family.

Dear Cousin Shirley and family
Jack and Martha are deeply sorry for your Loss. We have fond memories at your cabin in Cook Forrest many years ago. Hiking, Dave’s photography, spending time together. Rest In Peace David. Gods peace that passes all understanding. Prayers ❤️🦋
I’m so sorry, Shirley. I will always remember Dave with a smile on his face. I hope warm memories will ease your grief.
Shirley, I, too, am so sorry to hear of David’s death. I have a lot of good memories of him in First Universalist’s drop-in discussion group and in church.
David always greeted me with a smile and you were always by his side.
All these years starting at First Unitarian. I would always look for the
both of you when I attended an occasional service at First Universalist.
Shirley, I was stunned to get the bad news of David’s passing. I was glad to hear you are doing well given the situation. Please accept my condolences.
Such a beautiful service. I arrived a bit late. I was so moved by the book mark story and the ending song!
Peace to you 🙏🏼❤️
