David Lee Malone

d. January 24, 2021

Rochester, NY:  David Lee Malone, 82, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born in Wilkinsburg Pennsylvania. Predeceased by his parents Florence and Oliver and brother Robert. David is survived by his wife Shirley, his children Robin, Rebecca Mormino (John C.), Virginia (Samuel Bonacci) and grandchildren Téa and Brody and John P., great grandchild Spencer, his brother Kenneth Malone, sister-in-law Ann Malone, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

David grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to Rochester in 1957 to attend RIT. In a 2 year break in his education he met and in 1960 married Shirley. He and Shirley moved to Rochester in 1961 so he could finish his degree in Photographic Science at RIT. After graduating in 1963 he worked for Xerox for 18 years and then found his true calling being an entrepreneur. An avid photographer, he opened the Malone Gallery which showcased works of premier photographers in the country for 5 years. He then transitioned to opening Quincy Tax Service with his wife Shirley in 1988.

In 2002 David experienced the first of what turned out to be many health issues. Through the years he always bounced back from major surgeries and health conditions but eventually   they began to wear his body down. We weren’t expecting such a sudden end, but on Sunday evening January 24, at home with Shirley at his side, he quietly left us.

We will come together virtually on Saturday, February 20th at 2:00 pm to celebrate his life.
