Donna M. Myers

Donna M. Myers - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of  Donna M. Myers, 64, of  Old Forge, NY.  Donna passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Rochester, NY, after her long, hard-fought battle with diabetes, heart and kidney disease.

Donna was the daughter of Richard and Margaret Myers of Thendara.  Born on August 12, 1956 in Constableville, NY, Donna grew up in Old Forge and graduated from the Town of Webb High School in 1975.  She spent most of her life in Old Forge and worked in many local businesses over the years, most recently as a teller at the Community Bank.

While Donna never married, she lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count.  Her family, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews meant more to her than words can describe.  She was definitely their favorite aunt.  She was always there for everyone with a delightful smile on her face.  She was the hub of our family that kept communication going and made us all feel connected. She could walk anywhere in Old Forge and you would hear “Hey Donna, how are you doing?”

Donna was retired, but she actively volunteered for many years with the American Legion Auxiliary, the Old Forge Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Old Forge Library. She enjoyed attending and helping with SHARP (Senior Health, Activity & Recreation Program) which is the Town of Webb Senior Activity Program.  For more than 20 years, Donna was an active member of the American Heart Association’s annual America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk in Utica, NY.  She helped out in the community in many other ways over the years.

She is survived by her siblings:  Rick (Chris) of Smyrna, TN;  Ginny Engler (Ken) of Naples, FL;  Diane McAllister of Rochester, NY;  Mike (Lori) of Lawton, OK;  Bruce of Thendara, NY; and Beth Klinker (Matt) of Paola, KS.  She was predeceased by her parents (Midge and Dick Myers), several aunts and uncles, and her sister Suzy.  Donna is survived by 5 nieces, 11 nephews, their spouses, and several great nieces and nephews.  She also is survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  We will all miss her dearly.

Services will be held at a date to be announced.  Donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Old Forge American Legion, the Old Forge Fire Department, Freseniuskidneycare.com, or the American Heart Association in Utica, NY.

Donna’s family would like to recognize the staff & friends @ Monroe Community Hospital (MCH), Fresenius Kidney Care & UR Medicine for their exceptional care & wonderful friendships.

Deepest sympathies to all of Donna’s family and friends. It was a pleasure to get to know Donna through singing and volunteering together in Old Forge, and exploring the Naples area to find the best ice cream shops. Donna’s love of the community of Old Forge will be long and gratefully remembered, as will her strength of spirit and courage in the face of illness. Rest In Peace, friend.
