Dorothy J. Sawyer

Dorothy J. Sawyer - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY: December 5, 2020 died of Covid-19 at age 72. Dorothy’s talent and creativity in arts and crafts was well known, but that was eclipsed by her selflessness and desire to help others. She was a nurturing, caring and supportive mother who was a catalyst for instilling lifelong curiosity and learning. Her sense of humor and affable demeanor made her an approachable and fun person and her capacity to love was unbounded. We will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents, Glen & Leona Sawyer and survived by her two sons, Maximillian Meinhardt and Jeremiah Mangan; siblings, Tom (Leigh), Laura, Glen (Sue), Rick, Roger, Ralph (Linda), and the late Pam Sawyer; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private gathering will be at the Sawyer plot at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake, NY.

AD, you were such a special presence in our life. You passed on your love for us and also your passion for art to me and created so many precious gifts I still have and will always cherish. Our time with you was always fun and will never be forgotten. You were the best babysitter in the universe! One of my most favorite memories was when I danced around your living room, headphones on, to MTV videos <3 May you rest peacefully with Buff & Abby. Your shadow box hangs on my wall, full of all the little things you'd appreciate. Love you lots! XO
