Prayers of comfort for all those who knew and loved Ellen. We chatted on fb pm and by phone after she left the VA. She was always so cheerful and happy after her and her soulmate, Robert got together. Then they had their puppy. It was a beautiful family. I will deeply miss our chats. I would love to share a memory of her with all of you. It was spring and I was walking back to my department on the sidewalk as she was coming my direction. We stopped to talk for a short as always, just to catch up. Facing each other, talking with about 2 foot apart, a bird flew over and crapped and it landed right between us on the ground. Both of us looked up then down then at each other and laughed so hard! We were lucky that day! She was an amazing woman. God surely got an Angel added to the heavens.

Ellen, thank you for your friendship, stories, and especially your hugs. After my Dad passed away, you made sure to find me every day, even when I moved to another department, and give me a hug, and it was always returned. It truly meant a great deal to me. One of my favorite stories of you is when a LPN and I were in the tramway, and saw you walking between Building 8 and 86. We called your name out the window and ducked down about five times. You kept looking around to see where your name was coming from, and said, “Where are you?” We finally showed ourselves, and we all had a great laugh. You were amazing. I will hold you in my heart and memories forever, my friend. I hope you found the peace you deserve, and are flying high in Heaven with Robert. I love you.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Ellen’s passing. I worked with her on the medical unit at the Sheridan VA. She always supported me and helped me shape my nursing career to be the nurse I am today. I remember her telling me of the hollyhocks that she loved to see and smell as she drove down Monaco parkway in Denver, CO while she was attending school. She always had great stories, was smart, devoted to her work, and the veterans. When I moved away, to Denver, she wrote me a reference letter and I will always treasure that.

To Ellen’s family….I worked with Ellen at the Sheridan VA and she was the most loving and caring individual. She was not only a friend, but a mentor. She shared her knowledge and nursing expertise with all of us. She also gave credit and gratitude to those who deserved it. She was very special to me, and she is missed. Peace be with you, Ellen and family. God Bless.
