Spencerport, NY:  Gaylord “Jack” Fires passed away on January 3rd, 2019 surrounded by his daughter Jeniffer Groth, Son David Fires, and second wife Laurie Fires after a long fighting battle with cancer. In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren Mackenzie, Ava, and Nathan, along with several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Jack was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was well known throughout the glass industry in Rochester.

He is loved for his amazing sense of humor, jokes, and great personality.  He enjoyed going to the movies, Manhattans, and hot dogs with Mac and cheese.

In lieu of flowers, please give donations to the UR Medicine Home Care Hospice or the Cancer Society.

A memorial service is being held this Saturday January 12, 2019 at the Northridge Church. Visitation will begin at 1PM followed by a 2PM service which will include an Honor Guard. The address is 2052 Saint Paul St, Rochester NY 14612.

It will be interpreted for the deaf.  The honor guard service will be part of the 2pm service.

    We are very sorry for your loss Laurie and kids, although I never met you GLF would speak of you often and kindly. RIP my friend. You were always upbeat and Happy and it seemed contagious. We will miss you!!

    Rest in peace Jack. You were a great guy and a nice person to be around (at Flower City Glass). Thank you for telling me about Netflix so very long ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to your wife and family at this difficult time.

    Dear Jack,
    You will be missed by so many people you touched if your life . I am certainly one of those people. I enjoyed working with you laughing and talking on the phone. I will miss the great jokes and keeping up on politics together. May your family be blessed . Jack I know il see you again someday. Until then may you rest in peace . Your brother in the Lord, Mike
