Hazel Richford was my Step Grandmother even though we weren’t as close as I would have like she still was a grandma in my eyes. She was a incredible woman. I really idolized who she was. She was a very strong independent woman. She showed you how a woman can do it and should do it. She traveled everywhere. Almost all over the world it seemed. She was so caring and very smart. Seemed like when you asked her something she new everything. Just amazing person. I can never forget her and never will. She will always have a place in my heart filled with memories. My condolences to my Pops. May my heart be with you. ❤

I just learned of Hazel’s passing. She was one of the nurses who assisted me when I was still a resident at the U of Rochester and we formed a strong bond, maintaining correspondence since about 1960 when I was still in training. She was a remarkably skilled nurse, highly intelligent, who spent all of her energies on the care of patients, on the maintenance of long friendships, of helping all, especially her son. She will be missed, especially by me, even though we had not seen each other for decades.
