Rochester NY. Passed peacefully on Tues. May 10, 2022 at age 87. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Virginia Rekers, his daughter Wendi Braun (Adam), his son Eric Rekers (Kathleen Moore) and 3 grandchildren Arik, Adeline and Nicholas.
Howie was born in Irondequoit and graduated from Irondequoit High School. He served honorably in the Navy and then received a degree from Alfred University. He started Boddery and Rekers Construction Company and built many buildings in the area over 45 years. Howie was a lifelong member of the Rochester Yacht Club and a passionate sailor. He was an avid gardener and sold vegetables from his garden in retirement.
A Celebration of Life will be planned this summer for family and friends.
Howie-I know you must be in a better place with Mr. Gunther and Knobby Walsh and crew. I never saw you without a smile on your face. You and Ginny always so seemed to enjoy life. I am sure that Wendy and Erik gave you such great joy. I loved babysitting for them. The Yacht Club won’t be the same without you. I wish prayers and peace for your family and everlasting joy for you! Thanks for everything….
I have many happy memories of Howie. Diane and I were the younger cousins. He was always smiling. Sincere condolences to your family.
