James Edward Hines - Rochester Cremation

James Edward Hines, 71, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on January 27, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1952, to Joseph Hines and Dorothy (Galan) Hines in Centerreach, NY.

Jimmy was the beloved husband of Eve (Esposito) Hines, with whom he shared many years of love, laughter, and companionship. He was the proud father of Jessica (Hines) Gurecki (Kristopher Gurecki) and James Joshua Hines (Shyenne Fox). Jim adored his grandchildren, Parker, Alexander, Jackson, and Jameson Gurecki, and found immense joy in their presence.

In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his siblings: Joann Hines, Donald Hines, June (Hines) Kimlin, and Judy (Hines) Elmgren. Uncle Jimmy was a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and touched every one of their lives individually.  They all have expressed that they will deeply miss his warmth and guidance.

Professionally, James dedicated himself to his role as a superintendent at Bethany Village Apartments in Coxsackie. His commitment to his work was exemplary, and he was highly regarded by colleagues and residents alike.

Jim was a proud recipient of a business certificate from Columbia-Greene Community College, an achievement he held in high esteem.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim had a passion for animals, finding solace and companionship in their presence. He was a devoted caretaker of his family, always putting their needs above his own. He loved listening to The Beatles’ music, and found in their timeless melodies.

In later years, Jim found great joy in the game of golf, spending countless hours on the green perfecting his swing and enjoying the company of friends.

Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Hines family extends special thanks to Hildebrandt Hospice House and all the hospice staff for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

A memorial service to celebrate James’s life will be held in the Spring.  Details will be announced closer to the date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice in James’s honor.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Lisa Correri, Todd Deyo, Tom Macholdt, and Kathy Steward for all of their help and support during this long journey.
