He was born June 7, 1951, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late James E. and Jean M. (Jarboe)] Graves. Jim and his family moved from Indiana to Lakewood, N.Y. in 1966. He was a graduate of Southwestern Central School in 1969 and graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1973.

He taught grade school for many years in the Churchville-Chili Central school district.

Jim had many interests including golf, which he loved, listening to music, traveling with his late wife, Connie, and entertaining his grandchildren.

His golfing buddies, fellow educators, the basketball and golf teams he coached and his students at Churchville will remember Jim as deeply kind, supportive and warmhearted.

A family graveside service will be held on October 7, in Hamlin, N.Y.

The family suggests that, due to Jim’s love of animals, memorial contributions could be made to Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Greater Rochester in Fairport, N.Y.
