Rochester NY: Georgia Ryan Kelly, 89, lost her last struggle with cancer October 17, 2015, in Rochester surrounded by her family. She was born in Syracuse in 1926, graduated from Syracuse University in 1947 and married John Robert (Bob) Kelly in 1948. Together they raised a growing family in New York City and Westchester County, with extended side trips to California, Illinois and Georgia. She later worked for Reader’s Digest in Chappaqua, NY. After Bob’s passing in 1998, Georgia moved to Fairport in 2000 and finally to Rochester. Georgia had a big personality. She was an avid reader, a masterful card player, a devout Catholic, and, true to her Irish roots, a confirmed conversationalist who shared her thoughts with directness, wit and color. Short phone calls were not her specialty. Regular birthdays cards were. She was a wonderful mother. She is survived by her daughter, Sean and her husband Bill, of Pittsford, and three sons, Stephen and his wife Jane, of Durham, NC, Kevin and his wife Leisa, of Savannah, GA, and Brian, of St. Petersburg, FL, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue, Fairport, on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 9 A.M. Gifts to Catholic Charities would be most appropriate and appreciated.
