James “Poppy” Taffner - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY:  James “Poppy” Taffner passed away Sunday March 12th at the age of 83. He is survived by  the love of his life Janice (Jan) with whom he spent 59 amazing years.  He is also survived by his daughters Laurie (Jesse) Maneti and Jill (Joseph) West, as well as his son Michael (Kim) Taffner.   He is also survived by his brother John and sister Jane along with several nieces and nephews.

Poppy leaves behind five grandchildren that he adored, Joshua, Daniel, Alexandria, Bailey and Payton.  His grandchildren put a smile on his face every time that he saw them and he will be truly missed by each of them.

James started his career in banking and ended it with 17 years at Eastman Kodak.  He loved to, and was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching his team play football and never missed his “Yankees” play a game.  When James wasn’t enjoying his hobbies or his yearly trips to the Adirondack Mountains, he would spend his time with his family.

James will be truly missed by his family and his friends. All those that knew him,  knew that he was an amazing man, husband,  father and “poppy” to his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff in the ICU at Unity Hospital and to the staff at Hildebrant Hospice for helping him on his final journey home.

Per James’ request there will be no service just a private interment by family.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hildebrant Hospice Center at 2662 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14626.
