James Smith - Rochester Cremation

ROCHESTER, NY: December 1, 2022

James Smith lost his courageous battle to metastatic melanoma brain cancer on December 1, 2022 at age 65.

Jim is predeceased by his father, Charles H. Smith and mother, Elaine H. Smith (Rores).

He is survived by Debbie, his loving wife of 39 years; their two sons Brandon (Ingrid) and Shane (Elena) and granddaughter

Aurelia & his little pup Haley;  brother Chuck (Linda), sister Dureen,  Aunt Venny, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless wonderful friends.

Jim loved life!  He enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the concerts at Charlotte beach, festivals and especially helping others.  He loved sports and played baseball for many years.  He was a huge Buffalo Bills fan.  Jim knew everyone!  He always had a smile on his face and brought love and sunshine wherever he went!  He was a dedicated family man and the BEST brother anyone could ever ask for!

Jim retired after 34 years from MDC/Finger Lakes DDSO.  He also was a DJ for many years.  He was the life of every party!  Jim was a true handyman.  Always ready & willing to help anyone at any time!  He was always working on projects at his home and loved having his family and friends around him.  He always kept busy after he retired!  You could usually find Jim at Lowes, Home Depot, Starbucks, and Walmart.   Those were his favorite daily places to stop at!

Special thanks goes out to all of the doctors and nurses at Highland Hospital on the 5th floor and to Dr. Deepak and his staff at the Wilmont Cancer Center at Strong Hospital, and for everyone involved in Jim’s excellent care.

James’ Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9th from 9am-11am with his service immediately following at Rochester Cremation, 1118 Long Pond Road, Rochester (Greece), NY 14626.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It was an honor to know Jim, he was always in a good mood and always had a smile on his face. Jim made the best macaroni salad I have ever had. I’ll miss his humor and playing against him in corn hole. May God look over Jim and his family God Bless Jim you will be missed.

    Debbie and Family,
Joe and I and the kids are so sad – we are so very sorry for your great loss. Jim was undoubtedly the kindest, friendliest neighbor we’ve ever had. The kids will never forget him dressing like Michael Myers on Halloween, they just loved how fun he was! He will be missed and please know we are thinking of you all.

My heart, my thoughts, prayers go out to his wife, Children, sister, Brother, nieces, nephews. Grandchildren and his whole family.. I know how we, as a community for those of us who knew him, as a friend are feeling this tremendous loss. And it truly is a huge loss. He really made an impression and left his foot prints where ever he went. He will be sorely missed. I knew Jim from my childhood neighborhood. we went to same school. He had that charisma back then too. He was a funny guy, made you laugh. I remember years after school ended I thought about him many times and wondered what he was doing. Years later we meet on the dance floor. His love of music and dancing was the same as mine. We never left the dance floor. And still made me laugh. People who can make you laugh, to me, are the most memorable. Jim’s memory will forever live in our minds and heart. I am so sorry you were taken so soon. Peace in Heaven dear Friend. We all love you, you left a great legacy. 🙏❤⚘

I had the pleasure to meet Jim At the Ontario concerts. He was friends with everyone, and a cool dancer. It won’t be the same without him. Always had a smile on his face, didn’t care who he danced with. God bless me for getting to know you. God speed and may you make everyone in heaven have the pleasure dancing with you.
