Jane Veronica Brown (Cruise), of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at St. John’s Home. Born on March 9, 1937, in Elmira, NY, Jane lived a life marked by her dedication to those around her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Esther and Thomas Cruise, and her siblings: Bob Cruise, George Cruise, Caroline Labosky, Earl Cruise, and Bill Cruise. Jane is survived by her two daughters, Thea (Hal) Sussman of Corning, NY, and Christine (Joel) Maness of Penfield, NY. She cherished her role as a grandmother to six grandchildren: Chelsea (Brian), Ellie, Tallia, Nick, Sam, and Jack, and celebrated the arrival of one great-grandchild, Quentin.
Jane was a strong advocate for her fellow residents at St. John’s Home, always working to ensure that their voices were heard. As a caregiver for many years, she focused on supporting the well-being of others and building meaningful connections. Jane was a “foodie” and had a particular affinity for shrimp cocktail and orange juice, often indulging in these simple pleasures.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held privately by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John’s Home in Jane’s memory. To donate, please click on the link below:
