Pittsford NY: On November 5, 2016, at age 81. Janet, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Jan (Sal/Nana), born and raised in Rochester, graduated from John Marshall High School and attended the State University College for Teachers at Buffalo, obtaining a teaching degree in 1957. She was the daughter of Edward and Marguerite (Seils) Sutter, and was predeceased by her older brother, Earl Sutter. For the past 59 years, Jan was a devoted wife to Dr. Michael J. Vacanti, and together they raised a loving family.
In addition to her beloved husband, Jan is survived by her daughter, Lynn Vacanti; son, Michael Vacanti Jr.; son-in-law, John Gilroy, and daughter-in-law, Gloria Brown; as well as her adored grandchildren, Rosie and Alex Vacanti Gilroy; and of course, her faithful dog, Murphy.
Burial will be private.
