Janice Marie Shaw Ventimiglia - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

December 1, 2021: Passed away in peace with family at Hildebrandt Hospice in Rochester, New York at the age of 79.

Beloved wife of 53 years, mother, sister, auntie, great-aunt, dear friend. A true lady who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone.

Survived by her loving husband George; daughters Marnie and Michelle; twin sister Judith; brothers Michael (Michele), Terry (Helga), James (Gerry); Gary (Judith); Dennis (Carmen) and Kevin (Constance); brother-in-law Justin (Betty); many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Judy and Skip Webber, Gordon and Sally Windsor.

Janice was born minutes after her identical twin, Judy, on January 2, 1942, to Alice and Edwin Shaw in Rochester, N.Y.  A 1959 graduate of St. Agnes High School, she worked as a switchboard operator at Rochester Telephone from 1959-1971 before dedicating herself to full-time motherhood. As a young woman she and her sister were huge fans of the Rochester Americans “Amerks” and attended many hockey games and socialized with the team. She also enjoyed the Rochester Young Professionals dances where she met the love of her life in 1967, her Georgie, and married a year later on September 21, 1968.

She was an avid reader and animal lover who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, nature and birdwatching, Charlotte Beach, and playing cards.

Funeral will be private, but a celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2022.
