Pittsford / Rochester, NY: Jean passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2022 after a long illness.
A connoisseur of music, art, food and wine, Jean was an avid reader with an insatiable desire for knowledge, a love of movies, and a passion for travel.
Beloved by those around her, Jean loved board and card games where she earned a reputation among friends and family for her sleight of hand tricks to win at Gin Rummy and Sequence; and proudly held the title of the undisputed family Scrabble champion.
Jean is preceded by her husband, Vincent J. Vater, her step brothers, George and Tally, and best friend, Eleanor Bock.
She is survived by her three loving children, Kurt (Katie Baldwin) of Rochester, Gretchen of New York City, and Johanna (Jeff Diamond) of Bend, Oregon, and grandchildren Kaelin, Van and Oliver, of whom she was very proud.
There will never be another Jean and her elegance was unmatched.
No prior calling hours. Jean’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 1pm at St. Louis Church, 64 Main St., Pittsford, NY.
