Jesus “Jimmy” Arroyo

“Jimmy” Arroyo went home to Jesus at the age of 91 years old on June 3, 2017. Born in Manhattan, NY to immigrant parents Julia (Rivera) and Jesus Arroyo, Jimmy lived in New York City until 1990.  He proudly served aboard the LST 823 in the US Navy during WWII. He was on the Board of the Nazarene Church in Queens, NY and was a lifelong NRA member. In 1946, he wed his beloved wife, Helen (Lopez).  Jimmy loved reading the Bible, attending church, hunting, sweets, socializing, watching sporting events and spending time with his family. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed life.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Carmen Feliciano and Julie Vega. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Helen, sister, Gladys Declet, daughters Arlene (Jim) Nanry and Margie (Mario) Perez, five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, many loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jimmy was an active member of the Spencerport Assembly of God Church where he leaves behind many close friends.

Jimmy’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 am at the Spencerport Assembly of God Church, 3490 Canal Road, Spencerport, NY 14559. A veteran’s burial is planned for Monday, June 26 at 9:00 am the Bath National Cemetery, San Juan Avenue, Bath, NY 14810.

    Jimmy always did have a smile on his face. He was always a joy to be around. He loved the Lord with all his heart. We are so glad we had the chance to know him. We loved him and he will be missed. We know he is in the presence of the Lord. Your friends,
