Joan E. Steeley

Joan E Steeley - Rochester Cremation

Pittsford, NY:  March 12, 2022.  Our dear, sweet, magnificent Joan E Steeley passed away peacefully at her home, in the loving arms of Debra, daughter, and Mike, son-in-law, along with pups Mimi, Lily and Lydia.

Joan was born on April 4, 1930, to the late William and Anna Van Kleeck in lovely New Paltz, NY. Joan was predeceased by her sisters: Eva Whitaker, Evelyn Goss, Marion Van Kleeck Hassel and brothers Burton, Raymond, Robert, Harold, and William Van Kleeck and dear “sisters” Anita Himmelberg and Marie Crown.

Joan is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years Vincent, who swept her off her feet; her children, Nancy Steeley, Burlington, VT, Timothy (Carol) Steeley, Crofton, MD, Debra (Mike) Monaco, Rochester, NY and Kevin (Patty) Steeley, Pittsford, NY and grandchildren Anna, Sarah, Kevin and Ryan; her sisters Barbara Clark, Port Ewen, NY and Janet Regan, Kingston, NY; numerous nieces and nephews. She was a spectacular Mom, Wife, Mana, Aunt and Friend.

Fun-loving Joan was an avid swimmer with her YMCA pack, she loved birds, getting “her hands in the soil,” telling and hearing a good story and, of course, just being with family, friends and pups. Joan was a full-time Mom and after raising her children she joined the County of Monroe Department of Social Services where she rose to manage a payroll group. Joan retired in 1994 and continued to savor life.  We are all so grateful to have had wonderful Joan in our lives. We will miss her deeply,”…until we meet again…”

A celebration of Joan’s life will take place in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you extend an extra act of kindness towards someone.
