Joanne Louise (Slater) Rooker - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY: April 28, 2022:  Joanne passed away peacefully at the age of 92 after battling Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was born to Harold & Beulah Slater on September 3rd, 1929 and grew up in Oil City, PA.  She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Francis Bruce Rooker, her son John Rooker (Linda), her daughter Nancy Bodhorn (Patrick Ronald), grand children Eric Bodhorn, and Kimberly Beckley (Adam) by her sister Betty Bish and her very sweet tuxedo cat, Sherman.  She is predeceased by her parents and her brother James Slater.

Joanne had many beloved hobbies over the years including sewing, playing bridge, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, water skiing, baking cakes, pies, and cookies, reading, and taking care of her pets.  You could always count on a delicious meal when she was the cook!

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for family and close friends on Saturday May 7th at 2PM at St Johns Meadows, 1 Johnsarbor Drive West, Rochester, NY 14620 in the Briarwood Large meeting/activity room.  This is a celebration event.  Wearing black is not necessary.  Casual Attire is preferred.  Masks are encouraged due to the increase in Covid cases in our area.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alzheimer’s Disease research, your local animal rescue group, or a Hospice organization.
