Penfield, NY:  Passed away peacefully on October 17, 2019, at the age of 69. Predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Pearl Albert. Survived by her loving husband Bruce Goldman; brothers Richard and Kenneth Albert; son Corey Smithe and fiance Rochelle Dibble; stepson Jonathan Goldman; grandchildren Isabella Smithe, Layla Fazackerley, Callie Harper Smithe, and Charlie Goldman.

JoEllen was a graduate of Brighton High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. She devoted her professional career to helping protect children in her work for Monroe County Social Services as a child protective caseworker. Like everything that she ever did she poured her energy into this work to see that it was performed in the right way.

JoEllen was a wonderful wife to Bruce, and her gregarious personality always kept him on his toes. She was a loving and caring mother to her son Corey and stepmother to Jonathan. She was an adoring sister to her brothers Richard and Ken. She loved her grandchildren.

Those who knew her well will remember her for being an avid professional shopper. JoEllen who many knew her as JoJo loved clothes, shoes, purses and jewelry. She had great instincts to be able to sniff out when there was a sale and the acumen to bring home a terrific purchase. Sales representatives in all stores knew JoEllen on a first name basis.

In lieu of flowers please consider sending a donation to the Bivona Child Advocacy Center 1 Mt. Hope Ave, Rochester, NY 14620.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the White Haven Memorial Park All Seasons Chapel. There will be a Celebration of Life to follow at the Country Club of Rochester from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.
