Greece, NY – Passed away January 22, 2023. John is predeceased by his parents John C & Alice (Flanagan) McCarthy. John is survived by his partner of 45 years, Judy Nittolo; sons: John C McCarthy IV; Jim McCarthy (Sandi) & Michael Gruttadauria; brother, Brian (Patty); sisters: Elaine Sarkis (Ralph) and Karen Flanagan McCarthy (Paul Thibault); 5 grandchildren; friends; extended family and friend of 60+ years, David Mura.
John was the ultimate car guy. Cars were his job, his hobby, his lifelong interest. His favorite TV show was “Jay Leno’s Garage.” His vast knowledge of the automobile, its performance and history would prompt people to say, “Who knows that stuff?” John did.
Friends may call at Rochester Cremation Event Center, 1118 Long Pond Road (South of Maiden Lane) Rochester, NY 14626 on February 9, 2023 from 3p-6p for a Celebration of Life.
Johnny, you will be missed. Glad Uncle Mac and Aunt Alice were there to greet you along with your Uncle Bob and Aunt Gladys. So sorry to hear of John’s passing. Wonderful man . The car business will definitly miss this guy. Rest in peace John.
My deepest sympathies to John’s family and friends. I started a friendship with John back in 1971. He was always kind to me under the circumstances. I lost contact with him after 1976. We had some wild and crazy times. His hands were always greasy from working on cars. GOD bless you John.
