Rochester, NY:  April 11, 2019.  John McCabe, age 80, passed away at Strong Hospital with loved ones by his side.

John was born in Elmira NY, a son of the late John McCabe and Carmelita (Fusare) McCabe. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacqueline McCabe, daughters Lisa McCabe (Todd Krauss) of Pittsford, NY and Linda McCabe (Jonathan King) of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Theodore Krauss, Landon Krauss, and Adam King; sister, Sr. John Christian, Puerto Rico and brother Fred (WyEdna) McCabe, Elmira, NY; many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his sister Guinevere Durham.

John earned degrees at Alfred Tech and Rochester Institute of Technology. After working at Xerox as a financial planner for 38 years, he retired and was able to enjoy traveling cross country with his wife in their RV. He also especially loved cruises on the Mediterranean and to Alaska, and trips to Bermuda, where he and his wife went on their honeymoon.  He enjoyed Blue Grass, Jazz and Classical music and was an avid reader.  A smart and gentle man, he was well loved and will be missed greatly by family and friends.

A celebration of life will take place June 22, 2019 at Cobblestone House in Mendon Ponds Park in Pittsford NY.  Friends and family are welcome anytime between 1 and 4 pm to greet the family, share stories of John, and enjoy some of John’s favorite foods.

In lieu of flowers, and to acknowledge John’s 28-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, donations in his name can be sent to the Michael J Fox organization (www.michaeljfox.org) for Parkinson’s research and treatment.

    I am so sorry for your loss. John was a great guy and good friend. Too bad that the years just roll on and because of all the rolling, we miss being with old and good friends. My condolences to you all.
