John Frederick - Avon, NY - Rochester Cremation

Avon, NY – Died peacefully at home on January 30, 2020 at the age of 94.
John is survived by his wife Marjorie (Thomasson) of 72 years. Daughter, Eileen (Marty) Flickner of York; Granddaughter, Chelsee Stefaniak and Great Grandson, Avery of Leicester; Grandson, Brandan Flickner and Great Granddaughter, Madelynn of Avon.

John was predeceased by his parents, John and Gladys (Hanna) Frederick; Sister, Betty Hyde and Brother, Donald Vershay.

John grew up on the Street Farm in Caledonia, NY. He was a student of Avon Central School and enlisted in the ARMY in 1944. He was a member of the 307th Troop Carrier Squadron and received the WWII Victory Medal; American Campaign Medal; ARMY of Occupation Medal; and the EAME Campaign Medal. Thanks to his good friend and volunteer, Craig Bailey, he was able to take part in the 2016 Honor Flight of Rochester.

John retired from Annis Dairy in 1988 where he made ice cream. He was a proud member of the Avon American Legion and Avon United Methodist Church for many years.

A huge thank you goes out to all of John’s caretakers throughout the past few years and especially Amanda, Joelle, Erica and Gina who took such great care of him in his last few weeks. Thank you to the nurses from Livingston County Hospice and Lifetime Care for all their wonderful care. To all his friends and the members at the Avon United Methodist Church who have been so good to him. Your support has been a blessing.
