Jonathan “David” Lind

Jonathan “David” Lind - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY: Jonathan “David” Lind passed away on October 31, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.

David was the son of the late Theodore and Beulah (Grover) Lind.

He is survived by his family and friends… wife, Brenda (Boyd) Lind, children, Kristin (Lander) Underhill, Erik, and Samantha, grandchildren, Finley Lind and Paxton Underhill, siblings Dick (Pat) and Sharon (John) Appleby, dear friend Johanna Topping, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

In 2004, David proudly realized his dream of opening his own locksmith “shop”, Patriot Safe and Lock and was successful (as he was in everything he pursued) until it closed in February 2022 due to his illness.

He loved his leisure activities and hobbies, biking, swimming, sailing, reading, dining, cocktailing and spending time on his boat on Cayuga Lake…oh, and CLOCKS!

David was a kind, friendly, salt of the earth man who will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I will be hosting a “Celebration of David” on Sunday, November 13, 1-5pm at Rohrbach Brewing Company at 3859 Buffalo Rd., Rochester, NY 14624. Hope you can stop by and say hello.

Kristin, Sam, Erik, and Brenda – I am so sorry for all of your loss and so very thankful to have had some time with David before his time on Earth passed. It takes a special man to raise three uniquely wonderful adults – and I know how much he will be missed by each of you. A heavy heart for all of you, and hopes for rest and good care to see you through what I am sure feels insurmountable. Sending the biggest hugs from Winnipeg, Canada with a reminder our doors are always open to you all.

    To Brenda and his family,

When I saw David’s name in Friday morning’s paper, and after seeing his mother’s name it brought me back to when him and I went to School 43 on Lyell Ave and Mt. Read Blvd. so many years ago. I still remember walking to school with him when my family lived on Lyell Ave. I also remembered the day we were moving to Gates saying goodbye. which was hard. Even though we knew each other for only a short time he was a really nice guy. Unfortunately as it happens we lost contact over time.
My deepest sympathy to all of his family.

There are not words I could use to express my respect for David, nor my many thanks. Many years ago, he helped me realize my desire to “break” into the trade. He had a very unique way of teaching. He was not one to point and belittle. Rather if there was an issue with a project I had worked on,he always started the conversation with, “So what have you learned from this? It was his way of making you think thru a problem to find the solution. David will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
