wow & thanks a lot! i will try that no-nonsense look. :)and yes, jane eyre is a csislac to say the least. u knw what i really like about jane eyre? its the fact that it was waaay above its time in terms of feminism. and that both jane & rochester are rather ugly. but the part that makes me wanna scream out “go woman!!” is that she goes to rochester after his social castration. unlike women across time, she’s the one in a power position.but, like all books, it has its flaws. its sorta racist. poor bertha mason, the iconic “madwoman in the attic”. she’s marginalised & even jane, our feminist female hero, does not sympathise with her, let alone empathise. also, one must not forget that the story is frm jane’s point of view, and, thus, runs the risk of being biased. and that is it to the degree that jane always presents her self as miss goody two shoes.have u read “Wide Sargasso sea” by jean Rhys? its Bertha mason’s story & faaaar sexier than “Jane Eyre”, believe it or not.ps: i knw the anonymous guy is…!!
