Irondequoit, NY: March 5, 2020 at the age of 85. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Marla Jean Derleth; children, Daniel (Ann) and Steven (Wendy) Derleth; grandchildren, Colleen (Brian Cox), Kelly (Austin Murray), Ryan, Justin, Mackenzie (Seth Schoonover) and brothers, Ralph (Lee) and Richard (Elaine) Derleth.
Joe served in the U.S. Army 1954-1956, worked for RG&E for 38 yrs., & retired from Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in 1994. His love for family was unwavering. Next to his loving wife, children and grandchildren were his top priority. Joe embraced the simple things in life. He had a passion for golf, spending time in the Thousand Islands, being a member of the Bayside Sportsmen’s Club, and rooting for the Pt. Pleasant Pea Pickers Drill Team and softball team as well as the heartbreak of watching the Buffalo Bills every year as a fan. He loved his Ford vehicles and was notorious for keeping them in impeccable condition. Even though he is no longer with us, his good-natured demeanor will be forever remembered.
Services to be held Friday, July 31st from 1-3pm at Riverside Cemetery’s Chapel of Peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Point Pleasant Fireman’s Association or to a Charity of your choice.
