Joseph Robinson

Rochester NY:  August 14, 2016 at age 52, went home to the Lord after a long illness.  Predeceased by his sister, Janice Robinson; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Wanda Mines; his father, Alfred Robinson; paternal grandparents, Mary and Thomas Biernes; and his beloved black Labrador, Brutus. Joe is survived by his loving mother, Marion Robinson; his sister, Geralyn (Ray) Leipold; his brother, Alfred (Mary) Robinson; his nieces, Danielle Robinson (Tom Ashley); Shannon (Matt) Jelinski; his nephew, A.J. Robinson, and great-nephews, Matthew and Aiden Jelinski. He also leaves behind his special feline companions, Pepper and Lee-Lee.

Joe had an infectious smile and laugh right from the start. He had a big heart, always concerned for the less fortunate. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. He enjoyed cooking up new concoctions, writing poetry, and bike riding. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his mom, sister and brother-in-law.

He was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and relocated to Rochester, NY in 2009 by way of Port St. Lucie, FL, where he lived for several years. While there, he graduated from Indian River Community College and thoroughly enjoyed his job at Martin Memorial Hospital as a Medical Coder. In his early life, he was an altar boy and a boy scout. Throughout his life he was a funny, inquisitive, mischievous, and a “people-person” who loved chatting with anyone and everyone. Unfortunately, he was introduced to drugs at an early age and struggled with this overwhelming addiction and its health consequences for decades, particularly these past 2 years. During this lifelong challenge, he did manage to accomplish nearly 10 years of sobriety while in Florida. Despite the difficulties and setbacks that filled his adult life, he never lost his faith in Jesus, his sense of humor, or his compassion for hurting people.

Although he will be sorely missed, especially by his loved ones, including his cats, we know he is free of the pain that plagued him and at peace in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior.
