Barrett (Urban), Kathryn M.
Pittsford: Died on April 10, 2016 after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, of 58 years (and devoted caregiver); children, Christopher (Betsy) Barrett, Wendy (Jack) Saleno, and Holly Barrett (Joel Lynaugh); grandchildren Samantha, Madeleine, Ben, Jake, Bailey, James, Luke and Noah; and dear friend Cathy Swanberry.
Kathryn was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1938. She graduated from Michigan State University and worked briefly as a teacher before devoting her time to raise her family. She loved foraging in the woods and on beaches, cooking international cuisine, shopping of any kind, decorating, and talking with people for hours where ever she went. Favorite stories that will be missed include her numerous marriage proposals, extraterrestrial sightings, gemstone histories, and messages sent from the departed.
A reception in her honor will be held in May, with a burial near her summer home on Martha’s Vineyard this summer. Donations in her memory can be made to Cancer Wellness Connections, 7 Brickston Drive, Pittsford, NY 14534.
We enjoyed our many conversations with Kathryn at Barrett reunions. Her interest and collection of Baltic amber jewelry fascinated us. We will miss her dearly.
