Kay Dengler-Britzke - Rochester Cremation

November 5, 1937 – January 25, 2023

Rochester, NY, January 25, 2023: Kay Dengler-Britzke passed from this life into the presence of the Lord with her family at her side. She was 85.

She is  predeceased by husbands Theodore Dengler and Herman Britzke; her parents Henry and Elizabeth Wengender; brothers David (Mary Jo) Wengender, James (Joanne) Wengender; survived by her brothers Hank (Sue) Wengender and Robert (Elaine) Wengender; and  her children Mary Lou Lunt (David Janis), Robert Dengler (Linda), John Dengler, Anne Marie (Jay) Gefell, Kathleen (Patrick) Doran; step-daughters Carol (Michael) Groseclose, Laurie (Patrick) Egan; sister-in-law Sandra Dengler- Kromer; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was an enthusiastic and reliable volunteer;  serving on the board at the town library, distributing food at the community center, and working as an EMT on the Henderson, NY ambulance.  She enjoyed baking and sharing her “treats” to show people her appreciation and love. When not baking she could be found reading or walking the shores of Lake Ontario with her “buddies” in Henderson Harbor, NY.  She was an international traveler, delighting in connecting with diverse people she met along the way. Kay was considered by many to be the life of the party. Her infectious laugh made everyone feel happy. She was always welcoming and intentional in including everyone around her. Kay will be dearly missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Spiritus Christi Church (121 Fitzhugh St. N, Rochester, NY 14614). All are welcome to join the family immediately following for a luncheon celebration at the Brookhouse (920 Elmridge Center Dr., Rochester, NY 14626).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifeSpan in her honor. The family will be forever grateful for all of the support this not-for-profit organization and its hospice affiliates have provided Kay and her children. The hope is this work will continue to evolve and enhance the patient and family care experience during the end of life progression.
