Kole Andrew Johnson - Rochester Cremation

May 28, 1991 – Nov 19, 2023: Kole Johnson, previously Katie Johnson nee Barrett, passed away on November 19th from complications of lung cancer.

His struggle is over; he fought the fight and ran the race.  He has received the laurel wreath of victory and is celebrating in heaven with Jesus, his Momma Jean, his grandparents (Lois/Larry, Lucia/Charlie, and Cathy/Bob), and his dogs Riley and Nikki.

Kole had dozens of friends in the rooms, in the rainbow communities, and on the front lines of the cancer army.  Family and life friends round out the community of Kole’s Crew, mourning the loss of this unique and wonderful warrior.

He is survived by his parents, Randy and Cindy Johnson of Penfield; brothers Tom and Tamara Latta of Pittsford, Jim Johnson and partner Ashley Marvel of Raleigh, NC, and Bryan and Niki Johnson of Penecook, NH; nieces Faith and Rose Latta; and his beautiful grandniece Violet Mumbach, plus his dogs, Dez and Jack.

Kole is also survived by his birth family sister, Jessie, aunts Nancy and Matt Ted, Patty and Dana Wilcox, uncles Jimmy Barrett and Steve Barrett, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2nd at 11am  at Eastside Church, 1350 Fairport Road, Fairport, NY, immediately followed by a light lunch.

Kole very much wanted to become an alcoholic recovery coach. He started the training in November 2021 but lost interest when he was diagnosed with fourth-stage lung cancer.  To honor his career passion, please donate to a scholarship in Kole’s name at:

    I am so moved by the loss of Cole. He was an amazing person with a giant heart and sweet soul. He will truly be missed, but he is finally free to be with our Creator. Many condolences to Coles family and friends I can’t imagine losing such a bright light.
