Madeline “Maddie” Sylvia Paperno

Madeline “Maddie” Sylvia Paperno - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

Madeline “Maddie” Sylvia Paperno, nee Leef, died January 12, 2021 at age 85.  Survived by her daughters Jill Paperno (Les Scinta) and Karen Miller (Seth Miller), her son Mark Paperno  (Miriam Nunberg), her grandchildren Sophie, Asa, Alex, Toby and Isaiah, her brother Robert Leef and sister-in-law Joanne Leef, her sister-in-law Phyllis Paperno and nieces Cathy Leef Martin and Lizzy Leef Jacobson.

Maddie loved dancing, travel, shopping, adventure, and time spent near the ocean and bay.  The family thanks the staff at St. John’s, especially Terri, Ruth and Shayna.

Due to COVID-19, although we appreciate the kind wishes of friends, there will be a private service held remotely.  Maddie contracted COVID-19 in the last few weeks.  If you wish to remember her, one way is to make a donation in her name to oceanconservancy.org or your local food pantry.  Another way to remember her is to wear your mask.

It’s so hard to lose a parent under any circumstances. My thoughts are with you and your family. Even though you can’t have a traditional shiva at this time, I hope that you find comfort with your loved ones.

Madeline and I worked together many years ago in Dallas, Texas. Although we were not close, and frankly, I can’t remember specific conversations, I do remember her as being an amusingly, interesting person to work with. And she is the only one whose name and face I clearly remember, out of all our co-workers and bosses. Madeline was the first person I had ever met from New York. I wondered why she left New York to live in Dallas!
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear mom and family member. I know you must miss her. I love Madeline’s picture on this page-just exactly the way I remember her!
